About your hosts:
Joe Teixeira has over 25 years experience with Tibetan singing bowls. He started Namaste Imports in 1997, specializing in the import of Tibetan Singing Bowls and over the years he has amassed one of the largest collections of singing bowls in the country. Joe's business is 100% referral based, selling his bowls in person only (no website!), finding him yearly in Milwaukee at Summerfest and Bastille days. Joe has traveled extensively to India & Nepal every November since 1997 and continues to do so (with the exception of covid) to make his purchases for the following season. He spends hundreds of hours sorting through bowls, picking only the best to sell to his customers with a 95% rejection rate.
Kathryn Rambo has over 40 years experience as a board-certified music therapist, meditation instructor, reiki master and adult educator. From 2005 to 2021 she offered a holistic sound practice that used a combination of Dr. Herbert Benson’s deep relaxation techniques, Tibetan singing bowls, and Reverie harp to help people turn off the body's stress response and rediscover a place of homeostasis and inner peace. Today she works as a wellness coordinator for seniors who struggle with living in poverty, offering classes, resources and programs that focus on helping them gain and retain whole person wellness.
Laurel Ziemienski is a Sound Practitioner, Reiki Master Practitioner, Energy Worker, and Meditation Guide. She owns Ananda Healing Arts and offers private Sound Healing Sessions out of her studio in Saint Francis as well as group sound baths at various venues throughout the Greater Milwaukee, Waukesha and Green Bay areas. The body has its own wisdom system to repair and heal itself. Our bodies are in a constant state of repairing damage, removing toxins and producing new and healthy tissue and blood cells. In order to facilitate the body’s ability to repair and heal it needs quality nutrients, adequate sleep, exercise, and skills to manage stress. We can use a single singing bowl to bring ourselves back to center, to calm racing thoughts, and bring our breath back to our belly instead of our upper chest and to detoxify ourselves from a hard day. Tibetan singing bowls have a number of qualities that can assist us in returning back to center: rich overtones, facilitating entrainment, multiple frequencies, and the ability to alter our brain waves. Participants will learn:
How to use a singing bowl as a prequel to one's meditation practice
Calm racing thoughts using breath-work supported by the singing bowl
Creating a personal singing bowl wash for yourself and your environment
Saturday: 2pm-4pm Facilitator: Joe Teixeira, Namaste Imports
This class will be an intermediate/advanced level class, building on the techniques from the day and will focus on playing bowls for a group of people. Participants will learn:
What is meditation and how do singing bowls facilitate the process? What does it mean to be in the present moment and why is this important when playing for others?
Discuss the vibrations produced by the bowls and the opening or unblocking of the chakras.
How to lead a meditation session for others
How to play solo and with a partner
Discuss the energy amplifier affect through the merging of everyone’s vibrations.
How to spin multiple bowls at the same time
How to set up and play 20-30 mixed sized bowls according to their notes and chakras
Time to practice techniques and ask questions
